Updates for April 17, 2020
Nova Scotia:
- Nova Scotia’s most vulnerable families, seniors and youth will receive additional support for food, shelter, basic necessities and staying connected during the province’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic
- Nova Scotia Power, EfficiencyOne and the province are redirecting $3 million from the HomeWarming program to fund organizations that deliver prepared meals, operate soup kitchens, help the homeless and provide other services
Manitoba:
- The province of Manitoba is investing an additional $300 million to COVID-19 relief efforts
- Funds will be used for:
- Supporting the local, made-in-Manitoba production of gowns, scrubs, gloves and other medical equipment including an RFP to award $15 million of production to Manitoba-designed reusable silicone N95 masks
- Establishing a COVID-19 research fund through Research Manitoba
- Engaging local call centre, 24-7 Intouch, to contact Manitobans to drive awareness of government support programs to small businesses, charities and not-for-profits
- The province is asking manufacturers or businesses to visit the COVID-19 portal if:
- They can rapidly scale up production or re-tool manufacturing lines to develop products made in Manitoba to help in the fight against COVID-19
- They have a stock of personal protective equipment that is not being used due to closures and physical distancing
