Updates for April 21, 2020
Federal Government:
- The Federal Government announced an investment of $350 million to support vulnerable Canadians through charities and non-profit organizations that deliver essential services to those in need
Yukon:
Northwest Territories:
- The province has enacted the Residential Tenancies (COVID-19) Regulations, a new temporary regulation that offers tenants a mechanism to defer their rent if they have lost their job or have had a significant decline in their income during the COVID-19 health pandemic
- The province announced additional support for people, businesses, and communities in response to COVID-19
- This package is valued at $8.259 million dollars and will be implemented immediately
Nunavut:
Québec:
- The Québec government has announced a new financial assistance program for individuals working essential jobs during the COVID-19 pandemic
- The assistance amount will make up the difference between the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) and an eligible individual’s wages
- Eligible workers can apply for the program online beginning on May 19
Ontario:
- The Ontario government is providing support to Ontario’s most vulnerable citizens, including seniors and persons with disabilities, during the outbreak of COVID-19
- The province is investing $11 million to help deliver meals, medicines and other essentials to those in need and doubling the Guaranteed Annual Income System (GAINS) payments
Manitoba:
- The Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba is returning a $37-million surplus to provide financial relief to eligible employers in the province
British Columbia:
- A new collaborative framework will help ensure people living in rural, remote and Indigenous communities in B.C. have access to critical health care
