Nova Scotia:
- A new operating loan program is being introduced to help municipalities with financial losses due to COVID-19
- The $380 million loan program, which was developed in collaboration with the Nova Scotia Federation of Municipalities and the Association of Municipal Administrators, will be available through the Municipal Finance Corporation
Québec:
- In line with the recent announcement by the Gouvernement du Québec that certain economic sectors will reopen soon, the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST) is launching a virtual toolkit that can help and support employers and workers in complying with the sanitary instructions issued by the public health authorities
- The virtual toolkit includes a Workplace Sanitary Standards Guide – COVID-19, and two practical sector guides for the manufacturing sector and the retail sector.
It also includes quick references that employers can print and customize, concerning:
- reopening of the work environment
- physical distancing
- hygiene and respiratory etiquette
- environmental sanitation
- exclusion from the workplace and isolation of workers
- psychosocial risks in the workplace
- The Ontario government is launching the COVID-19: Tackling the Barriers website to help businesses overcome the unique challenges created by the global pandemic
- Businesses working to retool their operations to produce health-related products, or those that want to continue their operations in this new environment of physical distancing, can submit any potential roadblocks to the website
- The province is prepared to allow temporary changes to provincial rules and regulations in order to remove any barriers that are hindering business and negatively impacting Ontario’s supply chain
- Yukoners receiving Social Assistance benefits will not experience a reduction if they receive the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB)
Northwest Territories:
- The government of the Northwest Territories has opened a second intake of applications for low interest loans to support NWT businesses through the current COVID-19 pandemic
- The government of Northwest Territories is now accepting funding applications from Northwest Territories businesses and artists interested in manufacturing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as well as other non-medical products
- On April 30, 2020, Northwest Territories residents will receive their second NWT Cost of Living Offset payment in the amount of $52 per adult and $60 per child under the age of 18
