Newfoundland:
The province announced measures for eligible business clients:
- Current deferral of loan payments has been increased to six months
- The hiring eligibility for commercial Research and Development (R&D) projects will be temporarily increased. Specifically, salary support for up to six positions may be considered for eligible commercial R&D projects
- Contribution levels have been temporarily increased for eligible project applications under R&D commercial and Business Development Support. Eligible costs will now be covered up to 75 per cent, up from 50 per cent, for applications approved between April 1 and September 30, 2020
Prince Edward Island:
- Announced the COVID-19 Agriculture Labour Support Initiative (ALSI)
- ALSI allows individuals who are interested in working on a farm to register with WorkPEI and be connected with agricultural businesses who have registered their job openings
- Through the Farm Team Program, students returning to post-secondary studies in the fall will receive a $2,000 bursary and students returning to high school will receive a $1,000 bursary
- To register to be connected through the Agriculture Labour Support Initiative, job seekers and agricultural employers can visit www.workpei.ca/alsi
- The Ontario government is allowing all retail stores with a street entrance to provide curbside pickup and delivery, as well as in-store payment and purchases at garden centres, nurseries, hardware stores and safety supply stores
- The business owners should review the health and safety guidelines developed by the province and its health and safety association partners
- Businesses must follow public health measures and should review the workplace safety guidelines, such as promoting physical distancing and frequent handwashing, sanitizing surfaces, installing physical barriers, staggering shifts, and using contactless payment options
