How Magnet accelerates inclusive economic growth
Magnet’s initiatives support a range of outcomes aligned to our mission including employer education, early talent recruitment, diverse hiring, business growth, and thought leadership. Our goal across all projects is to advance opportunities for individuals of all backgrounds and prepare employers for a changing labour market.
Hire a Student
Employers with a Magnet account can access Canada’s largest campus recruiting platform. With one simple job posting, Outcome Campus Connect allows employers to connect with over 1 million student accounts from 85+ post-secondary schools across Canada. Employers can also target student job seekers based on year and program of study, location, and career interests.
The Magnet Student Work Placement Program
Brings together employers, students, and post-secondary institutions to create quality work-integrated learning (WIL) opportunities.
The program provides employers with wage subsidies to hire post-secondary students for paid work experiences. Students in turn benefit with quality work experience so they can secure employment in their chosen fields of study.
The program is expected to generate up to 20,000 paid student work placements yearly across Canada by 2021-22.
Magnet is currently working with employers from all sectors and regions to post jobs targeted at Canadian post-secondary students.
Hire Diverse Talent
Provides businesses of all sizes with tools and resources to better recruit, retain and promote immigrants. Employers can find practices that fit their needs according to the size, sector and geographic location of their business.
Hire Immigrants provides policy makers, researchers, and community activists with analysis and leading thinking from around the globe on immigrant employment and entrepreneurship.
A free online portal and resource hub, powered by Magnet, that connects businesses directly to persons with disabilities.
The online portal connects employers directly with persons with disabilities seeking employment, and provides answers to any questions employers may have when hiring—and retaining—employees with disabilities.
Driven through a partnership between OTEC and Magnet, ALiGN is a unique way of creating matches between job seekers and employers who are looking for talent.
Rather than relying on skills and experience, ALiGN matches job seekers to opportunities based on their personality. ALiGN is available through Magnet and transforms the way employers and candidates connect, creating new pathways for underrepresented groups.
